Tamil Nadu: Four Minor Girls Committed Suicide After Teacher Scolds Them - JPKee.com

New Delhi, Nov 25: Four minor girls, all aged 16, committed suicide by jumping into a well in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu on Friday evening. The girls, all students of the government girls’ higher secondary school reportedly decided to end their lives after being scolded by a teacher for scoring poor marks in tests.

According to the reports of Deccan Chronicle, the bodies of three students have been recovered after much effort by the national disaster response force (NDRF), state fire and rescue services. The bodies of students were identified as Revathi, Sankar and Deepa. However, the body of fourth girl is yet to be retrieved, police informed the portal.

Talking to the Deccan Chronicle, a police official said that the girls skipped their afternoon class and left their school bags inside the school premises.

“The preliminary investigation has revealed that the girls, all classmates and close friends, took the extreme step after their class teacher asked them to bring their parents to discuss their poor performance in the tests,” the police added.
