Gujarat Assembly Elections 2017: Saas Defies Against Bahu After BJP Denies Ticket to Rangeshvari Chauhan - JPKee.com

Ahmedabad, Nov 25: Just two weeks ahead of the first phase of voting in Gujarat Assembly elections 2017, the state is witnessing stories of revolt within political families. The latest episode of defiance was seen in the family of Panchmahal Member of Parliament Prabhatsinh Chauhan. He had to face the wrath of his second wife, Rangeshvari Chauhan, who challenged him to begin election campaign in election-bound Kalol constituency.

Rangeshvari Chauhan along with her daughter-in-law Suman Chauhan was seeking a ticket from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Rangeshvari was expecting she would be given the ticket after Prabhatsinh Chauhan had backed her candidature. But the saffron party decided to allocate the ticket to Suman Chauhan. Miffed by this humiliation, Rangeshvari took to her Facebook profile and wrote if Prabhatsinh Chauhan has the guts, he should come to Kalol for campaigning.

“I have worked hard in the constituency and would have appreciated if anyone who had contributed to the area got a ticket. In Pravinsinh’s case, he left the party and joined Congress and then returned. He and his wife are not even from the Kalol constituency, but are residents of Godhra,” The Times of India quoted Chauhan as saying.

However, she deleted the post from the social media site and said she will work for the party. “The comment was not made because Pravinsinh’s wife was given a ticket, but because it was given to someone who did not deserve it,” she added.

The last date of filing nominations for the first phase of polls in Gujarat is November 21. Voting for the first phase will be held on December 9 while the second phase will go to polls on December 14. The counting of votes will take place on December 18.
