PV Sindhu Beat Ratchanok Intanon to Enter Final of Hong Kong Open - JPKee.com

New Delhi: India’s ace shuttler PV Sindhu, playing true to her number two seeding, entered the final of the Hong Kong Super Series after she defeated Thailand’s Ratchanok Intanon 21-17 21-17 in the semi-final of the tournament. It is a fine win considering the Thai was seeded number six.

Sindhu was dominating right from the beginning of the match and she swiftly took an 11-7 lead in the first game, however, Intanon didn’t give up easily and fought back to save four game points, before losing the opening game 17-21.

Sindhu had to put an extra effort and be patient in the second game as it was a more closely fought contest. Intanon took the first point to put pressure on Indian shuttler, however, Sindhu bounced back as the game was tied 6-6 at one point.

Sindhu then shifted the gear and grab five points in a row to take an 11-6 lead, however, the Thai once again proved out to be adamant, as she reduced the gap to 13-12. But, Intanon fight-back was not enough as Sindhu eventually won the second game 21-17, thus wrapping up the match in 43 minutes.

Interestingly, Sindhu was the only seeded player from India after Srikanth Kidambi had withdrawn from the tournament. He was seeded number four. Sindhu has now set up a repeat of last year’s final against Tai Tzu Ying.
