Sambhar lovers, here is your worst nightmare! A Mumbai restaurant just served sambhar with a dead rat in it and the video is going viral. The rodent-infested food was served to a woman along with idlis at Pappilon Fast Food Corner in Vile Parle. In the clip which has been shared widely on social networking, the woman can be seen complaining about the low quality of food given to customers. She also says that the same kind of food was given to some unnamed Chinese guests. Reportedly, the complainant has been identified as Falguni Somaiya. After the incident was reported, The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has registered a complaint and is being investigated. However, the restaurant owner is of the opinion that the entire fiasco was to defame them.
The Asian Age quoted FDA commissioner Pallavi Darade as saying, “We have received a complaint against the restaurant and have taken the samples for checking. Appropriate action will be taken against the restaurant if they are found at fault.” Meanwhile, Prakash Shetty, owner of Pappilon restaurant, said the woman who is a regular customer is trying defame them. He was quoted saying, “The restaurant has been running since 30 years and this is the first time such a complaint has surfaced. We have been framed in this incident and no such thing has happened. We have registered a Non-Cognisable (NC) against the woman.”
Here is the video:
Rubbishing the allegations as a “cheap stunt” by the woman for media coverage and fame, he said that she also tried to defame other restaurants in the area. Talking about the incident, Somaiya said, “I own a shop in Vile Parle, and regularly order food from the Pappilon restaurant. But I was shocked to find a rat in the sambhar. I have complained to the FDA and expect justice.”
