Lucknow, Nov 25: The Lucknow Nagar Nigam, also known as Lucknow Municipal Corporation, will go to polls on November 26 in the second phase of elections to urban local bodies in Uttar Pradesh. Voting in 110 wards of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation will be held from 7 am to 5 pm amid tight security. The election results of Lucknow Municipal Corporation will be declared on December 1. Following are the details of ward-wise candidates of Lucknow Nagar Nigam.
All major parties – Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress, Samajwadi Party (SP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) – are in the fray. There are 19 candidates fighting for the mayoral post of Lucknow Municipal Corporation. The BJP fielded Sanyukta Bhatiya, while the Congress nominated Prema Avasthi. Mira Wardhan is contesting on Samajwadi Party’s ticket, Bulbul Godiyal is BSP’s candidate. The AAP fielded Priyanka Maheshwari for the mayoral post. In 2012, BJP candidate Dinesh Sharma had won the mayoral seat for the second consecutive term defeating Neeraj Bora of Congress.
As many as 1,043 candidates are in the fray for 110 seats of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation. Click here to read the ward-wise candidate list of the BJP, Congress, SP, BSP, AAP and other parties. The Uttar Pradesh civic polls will be the first battle of ballot that will test the popularity of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath after the BJP formed the government in the state with an absolute majority in March.
25 districts of Uttar Pradesh will go to polls in the second phase of civic polls. Besides Lucknow, the districts going to polls in the second phase are Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budhnagar, Amroha, Rampur, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Aligarh, Mathura, Mainpuri , Farrukhabad, Etawah, Lalitpur, Banda, Allahabad, Varanasi, Sultanpur, Ambedkarnagar, Bahraich, Shrawasti, Sant Kabirnagar, Deoria, Ballia and Bhadohi.
Polling for the third and final phase covering 26 districts will take place on November 29. Counting of votes for all the three phases will be on December 1 and results will be declared the same day.
