IAF’s Kiran Trainer Aircraft Crashes in Telangana’s Siddipet, Woman Pilot Ejects in Time - JPKee.com
New Delhi, Nov 24: A trainee woman pilot of the Indian Air Force (IAF) had a miraculous escape when she ejected minutes before from the aircraft she was flying crashed in Telangana’s Siddipet on Friday.
The Kiran trainer aircraft, which took off from Hakimpet Air Force station, was on a routine training session when the woman pilot detected a technical snag. The pilot, who was under undergoing fighter training, attempted an emergency landing. However, she had to eject as things went out of her control. The aircraft crashed in a field near the airforce station. The aircraft was destroyed completely in the crash.

This is second such incident involving Kiran aircraft in less than three months. In September, a similar two-seater aircraft had crashed in Hyderabad. The flight cadet had escaped unhurt in the crash.
On March 3, 2010, two pilots had been killed after a Kiran MK-II plane, which was part of the ‘Sagar Pawan’ aerobatic team participating at the India Aviation show, had crashed into a building in Hyderabad.
Built indigenously by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), the Kiran MK-2 is the main trainer aircraft that the IAF uses. They have been in service for several decades now.
