I am Launching Change, Cannot Carry Other’s Baggage, Says Kamal Haasan - JPKee.com

New Delhi, Nov 26: We will ally with whoever is good, there are no untouchables in politics, said actor Kamal Haasan at the Times Delhi Lit Fest on Saturday.

Haasan, who is likely to launch his political party in January 2018, also refused to answer if he would ally with ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) saying,”I am launching change. I cannot carry other people’s baggage.”

Haasan also said that when it comes to taking the political plunge, he does not fear failure as it will not be something like making money for another movie.  The 63-year-old actor said the entire idea of joining politics is only about working for the betterment of his state, Tamil Nadu.

“For me, there is no fear of failure because this is not about movie making. This is not even about money making. It is about making ourselves better and I am going to be one of those instruments,” Haasan said.

The actor also voiced his support for filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ which is facing wrath across the country. Haasan said, “People are being “oversensitive” about the film.  I’m not talking as a filmmaker but as an Indian.”

Citing his film, “Vishwaroopam’s” example, Kamal Haasan said it was wrong to demand a ban on the period drama before even watching it.
