New Delhi, Nov 25: A day after militants attacked a mosque in Egypt’s North Sinai area which left 270 people dead and 90 others injured, President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi has vowed to respond with the utmost force and avenge the victims of brutal attack.


Speaking on state television after the mosque massacre, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said that Egyptian security forces would avenge the deaths, restore stability in the region and “respond to the act with brutal force,”Efe news agency reported.


“All this is an attempt to stop our efforts in facing terrorism, to destroy our will and our action to stop the terrible criminal plot aimed at destroying what remains of our region,” he said.


“We will continue. As I said, this attack will only increase our determination… The armed forces and civilian police will avenge our martyrs and restore security and stability with maximum force over the next few days,” the president added.


In the wake of blast, three days of national mourning have also been declared in the country. However, no terror group has so far claimed the responsibility for the attack.
