Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Manohar Lal Khattar Indulge In War Of Words Over Honouring Miss World Manushi Chhillar - JPKee.com
Chandigarh, Nov 25: Former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and the incumbent Manohar Lal Khattar indulged into war of words over honouring Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar. Hooda had reportedly attacked Khattar and said that he did not understand the importance of a daughter because “he had no family”.
“I believe daughters deserve full respect. I don’t think Khattar sahib is to be blamed for this as only that person can understand the pain who has a daughter of his own,”Hooda had said, taking a veiled dig at 63-year-old Khattar.
Meanwhile, the Haryana CM hit back at his former counterpart and accused him of getting into cheap politics. “Although I did not raise my own family and have no son or daughter, I always remain deeply concerned about the sons and daughters of the state, and consider them my family. For me, whole Haryana is my family,” leading daily Times of India quoted Khattar as saying.
The war of words between Khattar and Hooda started after the former Haryana CM said that the Khattar-led BJP government should honour Chhillar by offering Rs. 6 crore, a plot and a job to her, as was given to Olympic Games gold medal winning player. Khattar took strong exception to Hooda’s demand and stated that what the former chief minister offered is his temperament, as his thinking is confined only to plots and cash. “One should think above all this,” Khattar responded to Hooda.
However, when Hooda was asked by media to reply on Khattar’s remark, he cited,”What I was talking about was a serious issue. What I said was that Manushi deserves to be honoured at par with Olympic gold medal winning players. She made the entire state and the country proud. But till today Sakshi Malik has not been given a job. Besides, there are a number of other players who should have been given a job, but during last three years they have been running from pillar to post.”
Manushi Chillar is the sixth Indian women to win the Miss World 2017 title and the first since Priyanka Chopra won the crown in 2000. Manushi, born to doctor parents from Haryana, studied at St. Thomas School in Delhi and Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women in Sonepat.
