World Toilet Day: K. P. Yohannan Led Believers Eastern Church Inaugurates 13 Sanitation Projects - JPKee.com

New Delhi, Nov 20: With an aim to provide better living conditions to the less privileged people of the country, Believers Eastern Church on Sunday inaugurated 13 Sanitation Projects in Agwanpur area of Faridabad, Delhi- NCR and Bhati Mines area of South Delhi. The inauguration was done on the mark World Toilet Day and will benefit more than 2.5 lakh people living in this area.
The project was inaugurated by Smt. Rosy Pandit (General Secretary of Mahila Morcha, B.J.P), Smt.Prita Ahuja President of Pargati India, Smt.Hemlata Sharma from Paryas Welfare Society, along with church leaders Bishop Dr. Simon John, Rev.Fr. Jagan Mohan Rao, Rev.Fr. Deepak Kumar, Rev.Fr. Patrash Maradi, Deacon Sunil Lal and local leaders from the area.
Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Rosy Pandit said, “The families living in the region will now have access to better sanitation and hygiene facilities. I am sure this initiative of Believers Eastern Church will inspire other civil society participants to reach out to people in remote areas to positively influence their life.”
Till date, the organization has constructed nearly 28,000 sanitation facilities, largely for the underprivileged families across various parts of the country.
“Most of the people living in the area are daily wage labourers who have migrated from Uttarakhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh. Our aim is to reach out to the neediest sections so that their life quality improves bit by bit,” Dr K P Yohannan, Metropolitan of Believers Eastern Church said.
Dedicating the project to welfare of people living in remote areas, Bishop Dr. Simon John of Believers Eastern Church said, “We conducted a survey of several areas and found these people to be amongst most marginalized. We are also planning to undertake other initiatives in this area like education centre for children, free medical camps etc.”
Church’s numerous other programmes have benefitted thousands of children, women, leprosy patients and villagers in the form of education, counselling, health camps, medicines, hospitals, shelter, rehabilitation and clean drinking water.
