Stand-up Comic Jeremy McLellan Asked Biryani With Aloo or Not, Twitter Stands Divided on The Pressing Issue - JPKee.com
There is nothing in India that gets us Indians united like the way we love our food. There might be legal battles fought in the court for owning a signature sweet dish or the ongoing battle of which biryani is the best. However, the nation remains divided on this matter, some even asking the pertinent question that biryani without chicken or mutton is even biryani or not. However, it seems our beloved dish has sparked a debate across the world too! Stand-up comic, Jeremy McLellan took an ongoing Indian debate of adding aloo or potato to biryani to the international arena. The pressing issue was too much for the Twitterati to handle. Many states in India especially West Bengal and in Karachi serves biryani with potatoes and the debate is rife that does it bring extra zest to the dish. The potato lovers vehemently agreed whereas the people from other regions raised their eyebrows. However, it seems Jeremy McLellan fueled the debate on Twitter and Twitterati were busy giving their opinions and voting on the popular poll that he created but the outcome was still divided equally.
Jeremy McLellan refers to himself as a ‘Biryani extremist’ on his Twitter bio started what he termed as ‘The Great Aloo War’, and Twitter soon followed suit with their opinions and views. However, to be fair no consensus was reached and the war ended in a draw. Nevertheless, people had a gala time voicing their opinion on how they like their biryani and many people had a bone to pick with the ‘elaichi’ or green cardamom that spoils the fun of eating biryani. The love for potatoes
I only eat biryani for the potatoes
I mean even the idea of someone not instantly falling in love with these sizzling buns of spicy love is beyond me pic.twitter.com/tnMOfyOPtP— Muhammad Abdurrehman (@Arehman_Baig) November 19, 2017
Inzamam-ul-haq was also referred
I feel like rooting for potato by chanting ‘Aalo, Aalo!’ But then I’m reminded of being in National Stadium with Inzi fielding near the boundary line!

*I’m desperately waiting for that*— Arham Shabbir (@arhamshabbir) November 19, 2017
Well the world seems to be divided on the aloo front as there no consensus was arrived. However, everyone agreed that it’s the elaichi that is the main culprit that should go from biryani. Poor green cardamom, we love your flavor but we don’t like your taste.
