Sammy the Seal is a popular inhabitant of Wicklow Town in Ireland, so much so that he is as popular as some of the local celebrities. His antics are all over the internet as he hounds the fishermen for fresh fish every day. Most fishmongers do throw a mackerel or another fish at him but the seal does not know the meaning of ‘No’ and always manages to procure a fish from the Lighthouse Seafood Restaurant. This seal is a very persistent animal and even though it is chased by people sometimes it surely knows how to get its way. The animal has been around for several years now and tourists come to check on its well being. There are numerous hilarious videos on YouTube of Sammy the Seal as well. A video has gone viral of Sammy the Seal begging for fish from the Lighthouse Seafood Restaurant. A Twitter user uploaded a picture of Sammy the seal hounding a fishmonger for fish which has gone viral and left Twitterati feeling highly amused.
The video in question has amassed a cool 739,742 views on YouTube where a man probably the owner of the Lighthouse Seafood restaurant is seen trying to shoo Sammy the Seal away but to no avail. Finally, he relents and gives the seal a fish to its delight. The seal jumps into the water to retrieve the fish and eat its full. A Twitter user named Derek Byrne posted a picture of Sammy on November 22, 2017, and wrote, “Just witnessed this giant seal being chased out the door of a fishmongers shop in Wicklow town.” The picture since then has become the talk of the town on social media and people started posting memes too.
