Padmavati Not to be Released in Madhya Pradesh: CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan - JPKee.com

Bhopal, Nov 20: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced on Monday that the movie ‘Padmavati’ will not be allowed to be released in the state as it distorted facts about ‘mata’ Padmavati.
” Etihaisik tathyon se khilwaad kar agar Padmavati ji ke samman ke khilaaf film mein drishya dikhaye gaye hain, uss Film ka pradharshan Madhya Pradesh ki dharti par nahi hoga (If Padmavati’s distorted history is shown in the film, and the film insults her, that film will not be allowed to be released in Madhya Pradesh),” he said.

The comment came on a day when representatives of the Rajput community submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, seeking a ban on Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone-starrer ‘Padmavati.’
Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Film Certification (CBFC) turned down the application by the makers of Padmavati seeking expediting the certification process. The body said that the movie will be reviewed and certified as per set norms.
After a nation-wide protest by Karni Sena and violent threats made against Deepika Padukone, the producers of the film ‘Padmavati’ decided to postpone the release. “Viacom18 Motion Pictures, the studio behind ‘Padmavati’, has voluntarily deferred the release date of the film from December 1st 2017,” the statement read.
The statement said further that the producers had faith in the CBFC. Meanwhile, the CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi had slammed the filmmakers for screening the film for news editors before obtaining a certificate from the board.
