Mann Ki Baat Chai Ke Saath: BJP Leaders to Have Tea With People While Listening to PM Narendra Modi - JPKee.com

Ahmedabad, November 25: A week after Congress’ youth wing Yuva Desh mocked Narendra Modi as “Chai-Wala” in a meme tweet, several senior BJP leaders, including Arun Jaitley and Amit Shah, will today morning tune in to Prime Minister’s monthly radio show ‘Mann Ki Baat’ over cups of chai in poll-bound Gujarat.

On Sunday morning, a number of Union Ministers, BJP functionaries and several other state leaders will get together for the special ‘Mann ki Baat – Chai Ke Saath, that will be organised at the polling booths across the state.

“On Sunday morning, we have organised ‘Mann ki Baat – Chai ke Saath’, wherein our workers would listen to PM Modi’s radio programme at all the 50,000 (polling) booths while having tea with people. This exercise is aimed to carry out a direct dialogue with the people,” BJP Gujarat president Bhupinder Yadav said to NDTV.

BJP National President Amit Shah will attend the programme in Dariyapur, whereas Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will be in Sabarmati. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal will have tea in Gandhiji’s Porbandar and Information and Broadcast Minister Smriti Irani will be attending the event in Junagarh. BJP MP and famous Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal, who put out a “Bar-Wala” tweet in response to the “Chai-Wala” meme, will listen to the programme from Rajkot.

Today’s event is being organised ahead of PM Modi’s three-day tour in poll-bound Gujarat where he will address eight rallies in Saurashtra and south Gujarat.

BJP leaders like Uma Bharti, Dharmendra Pradhan, Jual Oram, Parshottam Rupala state BJP president Jitu Vaghani, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and several Gujarat ministers and lawmakers.

On Tuesday, Congress youth wing twitter handle posted a meme referencing PM Modi’s past as a tea-seller. The meme also featured UK leader Theresa May and US President Donald Trump.

The meme showed PM Modi mispronouncing “meme”, which was corrected by Trump and Theresa May suggested PM Modi that he should “stick to selling tea”.

BJP also said that the offensive post exemplifies the Congress’ elitist mindset.

BJP spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao said that it was wrong on the part of the Congress to “insult” the country’s prime minister. He further added that healthy criticism was acceptable in the democracy.

After the Youth Congress was condemned, they tendered an apology and removed the tweet. Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad also admitted that it was a mistake. “We are very humble people. If we make a mistake, we say sorry. But when BJP abuses or their minister’s abuse, they never say sorry,” he said.

In his several speeches, PM Modi has often referred his days when he use to sell tea at stations and trains. In his campaign ahead of the 2014 general elections, PM Modi, stressed the fact that he sold tea as a child on trains to help support his family.
