New Delhi, Nov 26: In a bizarre incident, a team doctors at government medical college hospital in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh has removed unwanted articles weighing nearly one kg from the stomach of a youth after a three-hour-long surgery.

As per the reports, the man who hailed from a small village of MP had carried needles, broken iron chains and coins inside his body for more than six months.

“We have removed 263 coins of Rs two, Rs five and Rs 10 denominations as well as nails and broken iron chains from the stomach of the youth following a surgery”, Deccan Chronicle quoted a member of the team of doctors who conducted operations on him.

“The coins valued Rs 790. It seems he is mentally deranged. He was in a serious condition when he was admitted in the hospital. He was now showing sign of improvement in his health,” he added.

Couple of months ago, a similar incident was reported from Kolkata where doctors at the state-run Calcutta Medical College and Hospital had removed 639 nails, weighing over a kilogram, from the stomach of a 48-year-old man. The man had swallowed the nails over a period of time.
