J&K Encounter: Three Lashkar-e-Taiba Terrorists, Belonging to Pakistan, Killed in Handwara - JPKee.com

Srinagar, Nov 21: Three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists, who were Pakistani nationals, were killed by security forces in Magam area of Handwara district in North Kashmir, said Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday. Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police S P Vaid confirmed the report and hailed the security forces for their “excellent work”.
The gun-battle broke out after security forces cordoned off Magam area in Handwara following specific information about the presence of the terrorists. As the security forces closed in on the hiding militants a gun battle started, in which the three Pakistani nationals were killed, a police officer told IANS.

The development comes just two days after six Pakistani militants of the LeT, including the nephew of 26/11 Mumbai attack mastermind Zaki-ur Rehman Lakhvi, were neutralised in Hajin area of Bandipora in an encounter. An Indian Air Force (IAF) guard was martyred and two Indian Army personnel injured in the gun-battle. A local militant was also killed on Monday in a gunfight with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Speaking to media, Lt General J.S. Sandhu, who heads the Srinagar-headquartered 15 Corps, on Sunday said that the top leadership of the Pakistan-backed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in the Kashmir Valley has been wiped out. “We look forward continuing the operations and restore peace in the Valley very soon,” the General added.
