Insha Mushtaq, Blinded By Pellet Gun, Completes Her Class 10 Board Exam - JPKee.com

Shopian, Nov 22: Insha Mushtaq, who was blinded by pellet guns in Jammu and Kashmir, took her last class 10 board exam on Wednesday. Also called the face of Kashmir’s pellet gun victims, Mushtaq’s pictures triggered international debate on the use of pellet guns to control the Kashmiri people during protests. Insha was blinded during massive protests against the killing of Hizbul Mujahadin commander Burhan Wani in 2016.
Speaking about her exams, Insha told Hindustan Times that her exams have gone well. “All thanks to my tuition teachers and my ‘writer’,” she added. Her tuition teachers, Muzaffar Bhat and Naveed Mir, had tutored her at her home. Muzaffar Bhat works with an NGO called the National Association for the Blind and Naveed Mir is a medical representative. Praising her teachers, Insha said that they used to read out to her. “Even in the examination, my helper reads out to me the questions and I tell her my answers which she pens down,” she said. The HT report said that she had chosen Music instead of Mathematics as her visual impairment made it difficult for her to solve sums. “I want to overcome what pellets did to me. I want to be able to take control of my life again,” she said, reported magazine Outlook.
