Hyderabad: 85 Year Old Person Held For Raping 6 Minors by Luring Them With Chocolate - JPKee.com



Hyderabad, Nov 22: An 85-year-old person was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly raping six minors after luring them with chocolate. According to a report, six cases were registered against the person under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 5 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.


Identified as M Satyanarayana, a retired Central government employee, according to the police, the accused reportedly sexually abused the victims for several months by luring them to his houses offering chocolates.


The police received six complaints of the night of Tuesday from the victims’ families and the accused was immediately arrested, reports claimed. “Last night we received six complaints from parents and relatives of the girls,” said inspector K Chandra Shekar of Kushaiguda police station, PTI reported.


The police are further probing the case and have charged the man under Section 376 of the IPC and Section 5 and 6 of the POCSO Act.


According to a report dating back to April 2017, 152 cases under the POCSO was reported in nine months in the city.


Acting chief justice Ramesh Ranganathan of the Hyderabad High Court had also earlier said that junior judicial officers were facing problems in trying cases under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act (JJ Act) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (Pocso) due to the increasing number of offences and shortage of manpower.
