Himanta Biswa Sarma Hits Back at P Chidambaram, Says Rahul’s Dog Likes Privileged People - JPKee.com

New Delhi, November 23: Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday hit back at former finance minister P Chidambaram and said Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi‘s dog “Pidi likes privileged people” and they can “switch party”. The remarks came after Chidambaram mocked Biswa over his controversial cancer remark saying it is “divine justice”.
“By the way sir when did you rejoin Congress? As per as I know you were in Tamil Maanila Congress. Privileged people can indulged in any activity right from Chit Fund to Inxmedia, can switch party. After all Pidi likes privileged people,” Biswa tweeted. Also read: Himanta Biswa Under Fire For Cancer Remarks, Sibal Calls Him ‘Divine Injustice’

Chidambaram and his son Karti are embroiled in controversy ranging from Chit Fund to INX Media. The CBI FIR, lodged on May 15, had alleged irregularities in the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance to INX Media for receiving overseas funds to the tune of Rs 305 crore in 2007 when Karti’s father was the Union Finance Minister.
On Wednesday, Chidambaram mocked Biswa for his cancer remark and termed it as the outcome of switching parties. “‘Cancer is divine justice for sins’ says Assam Minister Sarma. That is what switching parties does to a person,” Chidambaram tweeted. Sarma left Congress and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of Assam Assembly elections in April 2016.
Earlier, Biswa had attacked Rahul for ignoring urgent issues because of his dog Pidi. “Sir Rahul Gandhi, who knows him better than me. Still remember you busy feeding biscuits to him while we wanted to discuss urgent Assam’s issues,” Biswa had tweeted.

Sarma has stirred a controversy by saying that some people suffer from life-threatening diseases such as cancer because of sins committed in the past which he called “divine justice”. “God makes us suffer when we sin. Sometimes we come across young men getting inflicted with cancer or young men meeting with accidents. If you observe the background you will come to know that it’s divine justice. Nothing else. We have to suffer that divine justice,” Sarma said at a function organised for distribution of appointment letters to teachers.
“In this lifetime or in our previous life, or perhaps my father or mother… perhaps that young man did not do but his father has done something wrong. It is mentioned even in Gita, Bible about the outcome of one’s actions. No point in being sad… all will get the outcome of this life’s actions in this life only. That divine justice always will be there. Nobody can escape the divine justice that will happen,” he said.
