Members of the First Daughter’s Club tweeted support to former United States President Barack Obama’s daughter Malia Obama after a media organisation reported about her private life. Earlier this week, some media outlets and tabloids have been circulating pictures and videos of Malia kissing a young man before a football game and blowing smoke rings. Malia is currently 19-year-old and is a freshman at the Harvard University. After reports on Malia’s social life was reported, the First Daughters Ivanka Trump and Chelsea Clinton condemned the media coverage. Generally, the media refrains from reporting on the personal lives of the children of presidents and former presidents letting them privacy.

Ivanka Trump, US President Donald Trump’s oldest daughter and top White House adviser took to Twitter saying, “Malia Obama should be allowed the same privacy as her school aged peers. She is a young adult and private citizen, and should be OFF limits.” Soon, former US President Bill Clinton’s daughter Chelsea Clinton also joined her in defending Malia Obama. She tweeted saying, “Malia Obama’s private life, as a young woman, a college student, a private citizen, should not be your clickbait. Be better.” In the past too Malia Obama’s social life have made it to the headlines.

Being daughters of fathers with high-profiles, the women have been subjected to scrutiny by the media. Clinton in the past has also spoken out against media’s criticism of Barron Trump. Clinton had tweeted saying, “It’s high time the media & everyone leave Barron Trump alone & let him have the private childhood he deserves.” First lady Melania Trump had then thanked Clinton for defending her son and called the media coverage a form of cyberbullying.
