Donald Trump Claims He Denied TIME’s ‘Person of the Year’ Title, Magazine Says President is Wrong - JPKee.com
New Delhi, Nov 25: US President Donald Trump on Saturday claimed that he turned down an offer to become TIME’s ‘Person of the Year’, after the magazine told him he “probably” would be selected “like last year.”
Taking to Twitter the US president posted,”Time Magazine called to say that I was PROBABLY going to be named “Man (Person) of the Year,” like last year, but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!”

Dismissing president Trump’s claims, TIME magazine clarified its stand on micro-blogging site and said,”The President is incorrect about how we choose Person of the Year. TIME does not comment on our choice until publication, which is December 6.”
Time Inc.’s chief content officer, Alan Murray, also took a dig at President’s tweet and stated that it didn’t have “a speck of truth.”
Quoting an article about the incident, Murray tweeted,”Amazing. Not a speck of truth here—Trump tweets he ‘took a pass’ at being named TIME’s person of the year.”

Former editor Richard Stengel also hit out at Trump and said,”Hate to tell you but that PROBABLY means you’re NOT Person of the Year.” Quoting Trump’s tweet Stengel, Stengel asserted,”They just wanted a photo shoot. But I’m sure you still have that fake TIME cover somewhere in storage.”

Earlier in 2016, the magazine had named Trump ‘Person of the Year’, following his massive victory over Hillary Clinton.
