Delhi Metro Botanical Garden-Kalkaji Mandir Stretch Gets Safety Nod, Likely to Open by November-End - JPKee.com

New Delhi, Nov 20: In what can be called as a good news for Delhiites, the Kalkaji Mandir-Botanical Garden corridor of the Delhi Metro’s Majenta Line, which will reduce travel time between Noida and south Delhi, has been granted a necessary safety approval by the Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety (CMRS).
According to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s statement, the Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) has granted the approval after inspecting the 12.64-km-long stretch from November 13 to 15.
“However, the approval is conditional, based on the compliance of some additional requirements,” Delhi Metro Rail Corporation spokesperson Anuj Dayal said.
The section, which is likely to open by November-end, will be the metro’s first-ever corridor to use communication-based train control (CBTC) signalling technology that will facilitate movement of trains with a frequency of 90 to 100 seconds.
After line gets operational, the Botanical Garden will become the first interchange station outside Delhi. The 36.23-km-long Majenta line from Botanical Garden to Janakpuri West is being constructed under DMRC’s third phase. It is likely to get completed by March 2018.
